A Busy Saturday

Last Saturday, April 30, 2011, I was quite busy. In the morning I prepared breakfast for my husband and I. After that I made Moist Chocolate Mayonnaise Cupcakes that my husband brought to his Lab. Yes, he was doing a project that day, so he needed to come to campus even though it was weekend.
Talking about Mayo Chocolate Cupcakes, actually it was the first time I baked a cake without eggs or butter. To substitute eggs in the recipe, I used Mayonnaise. It turned out that I was quite satisfied with the result. The cupcakes were sufficiently moist and not too sweet. I was really happy knowing that everyone in my husband's lab liked the cupcakes. I guess, they're quite delicious :-).

Besides baking cupcakes, I also made Rasp-BlackBerry Cheesecake. It's been a long time until I was finally confident on baking the cheesecake on my own. I knew that making cheesecake is "tricky", so I had to pay attention to its process. And here was the result. Not bad for a beginner like me :D

After lunch, I decided to go to campus. There was an event called: WSU Project Linus Chapter - Blanket-Making Marathon. That day people were gathering in the Student Union's Basement and made many blankets from fleece fabric. There were 1022 blankets produced in this event which was held from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Because it was a new experience for me, somebody trained me how to cut the fabric and how to make tied blanket. Yes, making a blanket without sewing at all. It was an interesting project, wasn't it?
Finally, I successfully made two blankets, the red one and the pink one.

I love that charity project. That was a very simple project, but really inspiring. The project really encouraged people to share their love and care for kids who might need the blankets. If this event will be held again next year, I'd love to participate again. Of course I'll have to come earlier, so that I'd have enough time to make more blankets.

And... if you want to try it, just see this instruction video:
